“Oh no, that’s not needed. We’re getting along just fine.” Stella’s words ended up coming out rushed.
“Wait, are you sure?” Lucia couldn’t believe her ears.
“Yes. He even sent me flowers.”
“Finally! He’s getting sense into that thick skull of his!” Lucia was surprised.
“His birthday is coming up. How are you guys going to celebrate it?”
Stella was dumbfounded.
They had been married for a whole year, and she didn’t even know his birthday. It wasn’t like she wanted to celebrate it anyway.
She only lied to Lucia that they were getting along because of her health.
Now Stella was at a loss for words.
“You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to, Stella.” Lucia spoke softly, picking her words carefully.
Stella didn’t want to hurt Lucia so she made something up.
“I got a small gift for him. I’ll give it to him when it’s time.”
“You really are a sweet girl, Stella. Okay, go to work, I’ve taken up enough of your time.”
Lucia was at ease now.
Stella hung up and stared at the screen.
